Mentor Recruitment
A mentor assembly can be delivered in-school to advertise MVP to prospective mentors and explain role expectations. Mentors can be nominated by your school staff, or volunteer for the role.
There should be a minimum of 4 Mentors per Mentee class and Mentors should reflect they diverse pupil population within your school.
Mentors will be expected to:
- Attend a two-day training.
- Work in groups preparing and practising their sessions.
- Deliver up to 5 sessions in the year to younger pupils.
Mentee Assembly
Mentees should have a 2-year age gap between themselves and their Mentors.
The ensure Mentees have a clear journey throughout MVP, a pre-assembly will happen which can be hosted by their Mentors, MVP Lead and MVP Staff to introduce them to the programme.
Delivering to Mentees
Mentors will initially deliver the Core Sessions 1, 2 and 3 to set the scene for MVP. These should be practiced prior to delivering to mentees to ensure that mentors feel confident going through the sessions, they have developed their facilitation skills and feel ready to deliver to mentees.
Mentors should remain with the mentee group throughout the academic year to enable relationship building.
